IAU Inter-Division Working Group on Solar-Type Stars

Solar-type stars represent more than 20% of all main-sequence stars. They all share an internal structure with a radiative zone and a convective envelope and follow a similar evolutionary path. In spite of these similarities, they span a large range of mass, age, metallicity and rotation, consequently exhibiting a wide variety of physical phenomena. Our inter-division working group is operated under the supervision of Division IV (Stars) and Division II (Sun) of the International Astronomical Union.
